​Krystol Internal Membrane™ (KIM®) is a hydrophilic crystalline admixture designed to create permanently waterproof concrete. Unlike surface-applied waterproofing methods, KIM becomes an integral part of the concrete, ensuring enduring protection without the need for maintenance.

Key Features:

• Permanent Waterproofing: KIM reacts with water and unhydrated cement particles to form needle-like crystals that block water pathways, providing lasting waterproofing protection. ​

• Self-Sealing: The crystalline technology allows KIM to self-seal micro-cracks up to 0.5 mm (0.02 inches), maintaining the integrity of the concrete over time.

• Enhanced Durability: By reducing permeability, KIM protects concrete against water penetration, salts/chlorides, sulfate attacks, aggressive chemicals, freeze-thaw cycles, and alkali-silica reactions, thereby extending the structure's lifespan. ​

• Environmental Safety: KIM is non-toxic, free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and safe for contact with potable water, meeting NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for drinking water system components.

Packaging and Storage:

• Packaging: Available in 5 kg (11 lb) and 25 kg (55 lb) resealable pails, as well as custom-sized Mixer Ready bags. ​

• Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat sources. Unopened pails have a shelf life of 24 months; once opened and properly resealed, the shelf life is 4 months. Mixer Ready bags have a minimum shelf life of 12 months when wrapped on skids or 4 months for open skids. ​

Limitations:

KIM is effective for rigid concrete structures but may not reliably seal cracks and joints that experience variable loading or repeated movement. For such applications, consult a Kryton representative for project-specific recommendations.
